How to Prepare for Your Newborn Photography Session in Albury Wodonga
Albury Wodonga Newborn Photography Guide
Bringing your baby into the world is a beautiful, emotional, and often overwhelming time. If the idea of preparing for a newborn photography session feels like just one more thing on your already full plate, I’m here to help and make it easy.
My approach to newborn photography in Albury is designed to feel calm, relaxed, and completely guided, so you don’t have to worry about getting everything “perfect.”
Here’s everything you need to know to feel prepared (and at ease) before your session.
You Don’t Need to “Have It All Together”
First things first! There’s absolutely no expectation for you to feel organised, well-rested, or perfectly put together. Those early newborn days are tender and unpredictable. If you’re showing up on two hours of sleep or you’re still figuring out feeding, that’s okay! Your session is designed to meet you exactly where you’re at.
What to Wear (And Why You Don’t Need to Stress)
One of the biggest concerns for new mums is what to wear, and this is where I take a lot of the mental load off your shoulders. You’ll have access to a carefully curated client wardrobe, with pieces chosen specifically for postpartum comfort and a soft, timeless look on camera.
Think:
Flowy dresses that don’t cling
Neutral, earthy tones
Fabrics that move beautifully and feel gentle on your body
And if you’re breastfeeding, feeding friendly dresses
For partners and siblings, I’ll guide you with simple, cohesive outfit suggestions so everything feels effortless and connected.
Feeding Your Baby Before the Session
A full, settled baby is key to a relaxed session. I recommend a small feed just before you leave home, if your little one needs it. Once you get to the studio, you’ll do a nappy change, get them dressed (if you’re borrowing something from my client wardrobe) and then give them a big feed to get them off to sleep.
That said, there’s always time and space for feeding during your session too. Nothing is rushed.
Keeping Baby Comfortable
Your baby’s comfort is always the priority.
The studio is kept warm and cosy to help your newborn feel settled, and sessions move at a gentle pace to allow for cuddles, feeding, and soothing as needed.
What to Bring
You really don’t need much, but here are a few helpful essentials:
Nappies and wipes
Extra feeds (if bottle feeding)
A dummy (if you use one)
A sentimental item if you’d like it included
Everything else is taken care of in the studio. I have a fridge and microwave for milk storage and warming.
Trust the Process
You don’t need to worry about posing, settling your baby perfectly, or knowing what to do.
I’ll gently guide you every step of the way so you can focus on what matters most: holding your baby, soaking it all in, and being present in this fleeting season.
A Gentle Reminder
These early days pass in a blur. It’s okay if you don’t feel “ready.” Most parents don’t.
But this is exactly why these photos matter.
Not because everything is perfect, but because it’s real.
